Presentation Title:
Climate Science and Services: Opportunities and Challenges for Geospatial Information

Abstract:
Many of the big-picture questions surrounding quantifying and validating climate change have been addressed. In their wake, a vast number of new questions - more complex questions - have emerged. These include: where and when are different parts of the climate system changing most or least rapidly? Who is in harm's way based on their location? Based on their socioeconomic condition? The intersection of both? How might science and science-informed services be optimized for the most success? How do we address challenges of equitable and just services? Geospatial information, and, importantly, its appropriate use, holds many of the answers and many more questions. this presentation will frame some of these overarching issues and provide a brief "state of the climate" update from multiple authoritative sources.
